When & Where
The Jive Aces
The Jive Aces are the UK's top Jive & Swing band. Renowned for their hot, swinging music and high-energy stage show playing songs made famous by such greats as Bobby Darin, Louis Prima and Sammy Davis Jnr as well as featuring a selection of superb originals.
The Jive Aces brought the house down at thousands of festivals, theatres, and dance halls throughout the UK, Europe, the USA and beyond, also making hundreds of TV and radio appearances world-wide.
This in-demand six piece have worked with Van Morrison, John Travolta and Isaac Hayes and many others as well as performing for HRH Prince Philip.
Thier latest album, "Recipe for Rhythm", recorded in Hollywood, California, features very special guests Chick Corea, Mr. Acker Bilk, Mark Isham, Vic Flick and Toni Elizabeth Prima (daughter of Louis Prima and Keely Smith).
When The Jive Aces, the UK’s No.1 jive and swing band, released the video for thier new single, a swinging version of the much loved Morecambe and Wise classic “Bring Me Sunshine” on youtube, they were somewhat unprepared for the avalanche it caused.
Within a few weeks it racked up over a million views from word of mouth alone and became the 11th most viewed music video in the UK in it’s first month with accolades pouring in from the world over.
Its uplifting message is so pertinent in the current atmosphere of financial and social distress that it has caught people’s interest on both sides of the Atlantic. Both the ukulele and swing dancing are also enjoying a huge revival and the video shows the happy and positive nature of both as an alternative to the bad news spread by mainstream media.
The CD single features not only the video version of the song but a special extended version with guest Toni Elizabeth Prima, daughter of two of the band’s musical heros, Louis Prima and Keely Smith as well as as an original tune, “King of Jive” a tribute to the very same.
The main location for the shoot was Bobby Jo’s 50’s Diner in Southend-on-Sea, Essex (at which during the shoot the cast and crew used up the diner’s entire weeks supply of burgers!) but the epilogue scene was filmed at another period venue, Cafe 50’s in Hollywood, California. Remarkably, additional filming was carried out in London, Los Angeles, Taiwan, Ukraine, India and Australia where locals are seen watching the band and dancing on TVs.
The popularity of the video has spread even further and so far has been screened at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival, is currently shortlisted for the Feel Good Film Festival and has been accepted to the Port Townsend Film Festival as well as winning a prestigious “Silver Telly Award”.
The video was written and produced by the Jive Aces in conjunction with Mad Hatter Studios in Los Angeles where they recorded their album including the forthcoming “King of the Swingers” from which the single was taken.
