The world of selection and assessment is constantly evolving as we learn more about the factors that contribute to job success. In this lively and participative event, you will learn about the research behind psychometric testing and some examples of how different instruments can be used in organisational settings. You will also learn about emerging trends for the future and how to make sure that you are implementing best practice when you use psychometric tests.

Naeema will use her extensive knowledge of employment law to provide an insight into the Legal implications of psychometric testing. She will offer advice on how best to avoid discrimination on the grounds of: disability, race and gender. She will also provide clarification around your data protection obligations andoffer suggestions on how to manage employees who refuse to undergo psychometric testing.

Like other personality instruments, the Hogan provides us with information about how people typically perform in their day to day work. In addition, though, the Hogan also gives us an insight into the ‘Dark Side’ of leaders. Sharon will be talking about using the Hogan instruments for selection and how they can be valuable in helping leaders understand how their’ Dark Side’ can derail their leadership style.

Anna Sutton, Senior Lecturer in Occupational Psychology, Manchester Metropolitan University.
Dr Anna Sutton is a Senior Lecturer in Occupational Psychology at Manchester Metropolitan University. A Chartered Psychologist specializing in the role of personality and self-awareness in the workplace, she will be introducing recent research in psychometric testing and giving an insight into current issues and debates in the field.

Wayne will be talking about how OPQ32 (CEB’s flagship personality assessment) can be used to look at behavioral styles in the workplace.
Jackie Harte (OD Officer) & Anita Johnson (Trainer), Greater Manchester Police
Jackie and Anita will be talking about their experiences in using the Myers Briggs Type Indicator with the Greater Manchester Police Force. They will be emphasizing the importance of meaningful feedback and sustained coaching in supporting staff on their development journey.
Nigel Evans. Director of NEC, Member of the BPS Committee on Test Standards, and British Representative for the International Test Commission.
Drawing upon both his commercial and professional experiences, Nigel will present the benefits of following best practice when using psychometric tests. He will cover critical areas e.g. using independently reviewed tests, issues in choosing the best test for the job, checking test user credentials when commissioning corporate projects, alongside other ethical and legal commitments.
