Description

Being European Green Capital puts the future economy centre stage and raises many questions: What is the green economy? How might we achieve it? Who will take us there? Is a truly green economy achievable and can we afford it? This panel event debates issues such as growth and the environment; priorities; the changes needed in business practice, government, education, society, individual behaviour; green businesses and green workers; modern green lifestyles; green economy and leadership; likely winners and losers; the key players; and what politicians, business leaders and other opinion shapers need to do to drive the changes necessary to get us to a green economy. Speakers include:

Alan Bailey (Chair, Low Carbon South West)
Griffin Carpenter (New Economics Foundation)
Professor Molly Scott Cato MEP

This event launches the Bristol Economic Analysis research centre, UWE, Bristol. The centre addresses 21st century economics for 21st century challenges. It will be Centre of excellence in applied economic research, combining data and policy analysis with focused expertise in the economics of the sustainable region, economics of labour markets, and critical perspectives on finance and macroeconomics. Centre expertise informs research, consultancy, knowledge exchange and teaching at various levels.

This event is part of the Bristol European Green Capital 2015 programme, and Bristol Festival of Ideas. It is supported by Bristol Economic Analysis, UWE Bristol.

This event is free but prebooking is required. You need to show your ticket at the door. Please be ready to take your place by 19.20 at the latest.

We have restricted the number of tickets that can be booked to one per transaction. This has been introduced in an effort to stop people automatically booking multiple tickets without confirming if they have guests to go with them. We hope this will help to limit the number of 'no shows' at the events, which currently run at around 35% of bookings. We will monitor the situation. If you need more than one ticket, you can click on the booking link again. The little extra effort involved will hopefully put off those who don’t really need more than one, but not those who do.

Please ensure you use the correct email address. This is where your ticket will be sent. If you do not provide the correct address, you will not receive the acknowledgement email or ticket.
