Treasurer and Gift Aid Secretaries Conference
Date: Wednesday 12 October
Time: 7.00pm for refreshments for a prompt 7.30pm start. Finishing at 9.15pm
Venue: St Francis of Assisi, Kitt Green, City Road, Wigan, Lancashire. WN5 0HP
This year’s conference is aimed at anyone who is new to – or has an interest in - their church’s finances. The training sessions will be particularly useful to Treasurers and Gift Aid Secretaries who are new to their roles, or anyone considering taking up one of these roles.
The evening will provide basic information and training on both records and procedures required to produce Receipts & Payments accounts and also the basics of operating a Gift Aid system. It will also provide an opportunity for you to discover recent and forthcoming changes to regulations and requirements and brief details about the Parish Giving Scheme.
A plenary session will offer a brief update on a range of financial accounting and stewardship issues whilst more experienced Treasurers, clergy and lay leaders can choose either a workshop on Beyond the Collection Plate: exploring income streams for churches or an Open Forum with ‘questions from the floor’ covering technical issues such as PAYE, pensions, SORP, fees etc.
Those wanting more in depth information on the Parish Giving Scheme, Legacies, pensions etc, please see the information that can be found on the diocesan website or do contact the Resources Team.
Please use this link to Eventbrite to see the details of the optional workshops. If you encounter any difficulties with booking please do email your booking request to firstname.lastname@example.org or ring 0151 705 2180, but please remember to clearly identify which workshop you wish to attend.
If you are unable to attend but feel you might benefit from guidance, please contact the Resources Team and we will find an alternative means of providing the help you require.
We look forward to seeing you.
With best wishes
