UCL Academy Town Hall Meeting
Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM (BST)
UCL is the first university in the country to be the sole sponsor of an academy. We have taken this step because we believe that by sharing facilities, expertise and providing support to teachers and pupils, we can bring about a fundamental improvement in the educational experience of students in the school and beyond. The UCL Academy opened in September 2012 with 180 students in Foundation and 125 students in Level 3. It will reach its full capacity of 1,150 students by the autumn of 2016. The academy is based in Adelaide Road in Swiss Cottage, north London. Its new building, designed by architects Penoyre & Prasad, has been purpose built to support the groundbreaking curriculum and pastoral activities that the school offers.
A Town Hall meeting is planned for 30 April to provide members of the UCL community the opportunity to hear from the Principal, Geraldine Davies, and her team, who will provide an insight into the school, its values and ethos, the curriculum and the school’s innovative approach to teaching and learning. In addition to increasing awareness of the UCL Academy, the meeting aims to:
- Share ideas and best practice in approaches to teaching and learning
- Explore ideas and ways in which UCL can best fulfil its role as sponsor
- Discuss ways of blurring the boundaries between secondary and higher education
All are welcome.
