Event Details

This afternoon workshop, hosted by the UCL Archaeology & Communication Network (ACRN), will address the themes of barriers to public engagement with archaeology online, and will explore factors that may limit or impede public participation in archaeology and heritage, via digital media and the Internet.

This event will be structured in two halves:

In the first half, there will be 6 short presentations by researchers and practitioners in the field of digital Public Archaeology.

In the second half, there will be an open discussion on the topics raised, moderated by the chair, Don Henson (Centre for Audio-Visual Study & Practice in Archaeology).  The discussion will be enriched by the presence of participants from a wide variety of archaeological backgrounds, and through active contributions via Twitter and a Wikispace.  The hashtag for the event will be #digipubarch.

Confirmed speakers include:

Cara Jones (Archaeology Scotland)

Dan Pett (Portable Antiquities Scheme)

Doug Rocks-MacQueen (University of Edinburgh, Open Access Archaeology)

Hugh Corley (English Heritage)

Laura Cream & Kimberley Freeman (UCL Public Engagement Unit)
