Engineering Design Principal Research Fellow, Art & Design Research Centre 

‘Why the World is as it is and how to change it.’

In the Modern world we are surrounded by things that have been designed and manufactured.  The future is full of challenges  in healthcare, energy, food and resources. In understanding how and why we do things the way we do and what motivates us to do them we can start to think about how to solve these challenges.

Introduction to UTC Sheffield 

An overview introducing this exciting new addition to the education landscape in Sheffield and the region. Is this for you? Learn about the new building in the heart of the Cultural Industries Quarter and what is distinctive about UTC Sheffield.

6.30pm   Dr Alan Robinson – M Art Animation

‘3 D Animation - Realism and Reality’

A talk from a specialist in animation, computer graphics and 3D scanning. Discover why this area needs talented young people and hear about the exciting digital engineering and animation interface.

7.00pm Andrew Cropley, Chair of the UTC Academy Trust

An update on how the UTC project is developing and how it fits with the City Region’s economic priorities for growth and employment.

7.15pm Brigidin Crowther, Creative & Digital Industries Specialist

The UTC creative and digital curriculum will include employer projects, visits, masterclasses and placements. Learn more about what will be on offer and career pathways.
