Warm-ups and Speed Training

Preparing players and athletes for a training session or match is critical, yet warm-ups often lack variety and specificity. A well-constructed warm-up can be fun and include many of the fundamental movement patterns that your athletes require to play their sports.

In this workshop, you will learn a dynamic warm-up that will best prepare your athlete(s). You will then work through a series of drills to improve speed and agility.

Time: 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Date: Wednesday 3 September

Venue: University of Hertfordshire

Cost: £22

Tutor: Edward Baker

Strength & Conditioning Coach at Performance Hertfordshire, Hertfordshire Sports Village, University of Hertfordshire

Edward Baker is the Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach for the GB Wheelchair Rugby team, with the English Institute of Sport. He coaches four of England’s World Cup-winning Women’s rugby players. In addition, Edward works at the University of Hertfordshire with multi-sport athletes including England Women’s football players, track & field athletes and swimmers.

As module leader for the MSc Strength and Conditioning module at Hertfordshire, Edward brings a slice of academic rigor to his coaching.
