This month we are pleased to welcome Erica Lack from Yorkshire Water who has recently returned from a WaterAid supporters' visit to India to see first-hand the transformation which WaterAid's efforts can bring to people's lives. She has been touched and inspired by this experience and would like to tell you all about her visit. Erica is determined to widen awareness about the tragic situation where 2000 children die every day from drinking dirty water and poor sanitation, and what is being done to tackle the problem.
The theme for World Water Day this year was "Water is just the beginning" and that is the theme too for Erica's talk. It's a fantastic opportunity to find out how the money raised for WaterAid is spent - and the ways in which their projects empower women and children in particular to take control of their lives.
This year JCI Sheffield is Inspiring Action in Sheffield. JCI is about making positive change, and that starts from a local level. We are here, we have a broad range of skills in our member base, and we want to help. In doing so we invite positive change both for our community and by getting out of our comfort zone we learn new skills.
We have run a programme of community projects and events ranging from car park clean ups to sleep outs to raise awareness for the homelessness. We are currently developing the projects we are running this year and have already had some successes including our very recent Easter Egg Appeal for patients at Sheffield Children's Hospital.
Each month we will host or facilitate sessions for our members and partners to get involved in the projects, activities and training as we work towards Inspiring Action in Sheffield.
JCI Sheffield membership is only 10 per month. Most of our events are 15 to attend for non-members so by signing up for a JCI Sheffield membership you can save money, even by attending one event per month! We average between 2-4 events per month with plenty of opportunities for training, networking and personal development. Why not sign up now and save money on your first event. Visit http://
