Redeye's free network meetings are your chance to find out more about Redeye, to meet other photographers over a drink, and to see a presentation of work.

Please join us for this free event (registration required) at Cornerhouse in Manchester, which features the work of Karen McBride, one of Manchester's leading independent music and portrait photographers. Arrive from 18:30 for networking and a drink, with the talk starting at 19:00.

“Elvis would have really liked you.” - Scotty Moore, Elvis Presley's guitarist, on meeting Karen in Nashville.

"Karen's photos capture the grit and the grime and the flash and the hope of living beyond the law in these monochrome times.

"The escape of music with its feet on the ground is here in her work. Her background in capturing the stars in the generous stadiums is utilised on the street, there is magic in every picture, she finds the spark and the humanity and the real X factor in these larger than life snapshots of the other side of the city.

"Her skill is in making the photographs almost look like paintings, letting her imagination fly and taking more than a snapshot of the subject.

"Every picture tells a story, every picture is the story, every picture is a statement of digital intent."

John Robb
