IG + Venturesome Happy Hour
Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM (GMT)
London, United Kingdom
Just a note: We can only take 15 people for Paul's talk (the first hour), and then we'll open up the bar. Please RSVP either way and we'll send a confirmation email to the first 15 who make the cut.
You're invited to join Impact Generation at our first happy hour of 2012, on Thursday, January 26th at the Brigade Restaurant & Bar near London Bridge tube.
This happy hour, IG brings Paul Cheng, the CEO of Venturesome, to give an insightful introduction to the concept of innovative charity financing: the what, the who, and the why. We'll give you a hint: part of the "what" is bonds and other debt instruments for UK charities.
Paul is certainly the one to learn from, as he's been at Venturesome for a number of years. Before being promoted to CEO, he was a Senior Investment Manager at Venturesome (an arm of the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). There, he managed their Social Impact Fund and Innovation Fund, as well as their investor relations. Prior to joining Venturesome, Paul was a corporate finance lawyer at Slaughter & May and a business strategist with Microsoft. If we're lucky, Paul will also divulge his way of sorting and thinking about social enterprise business models.
There's one catch.
Space in our venue room is quire limited, so we can only offer an invitation to the formal speaking segment of the happy hour to the first 15 individuals to sign up here on EventBrite. The event is free, but if you'd like to make a contribution we'll use it to build our Idea Refinery program.
Nevertheless, we'd be extra-pleased if you came and joined us for drinks at the bar at Brigade afterwards, starting from 8pm.
But there's a consolation prize.
On the day of the event, we'll draw names from those of you who fill out our survey on your background and interests. The winner gets a breakfast coffee date, one-on-one, with Paul. It's a chance to ask all those questions you didn't get to ask in the happy hour.
As always, feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org with any comments or questions.
We look forward to seeing you at the event and bar afterwards.
