Take Charge of Your Data

VIDaaS (Virtual Infrastructure with Database as a Service) is developing software that enables researchers to build, edit, search and share databases online, within a cloud computing environment.

DataFlow is creating a two-stage data management infrastructure that makes it easy for you and your research group to manage you research data.  You manage this locally using your own instance of DataStage, and keep the best data in a long-term repository with DataBank. These software packages are now available to anyone to use within their own environment.

We are both Oxford-based projects and our software is available as open source for anyone to use. We are organising a workshop in collaboration with OSS Watch to show you all about it.

Researchers, departmental IT staff, software developers, system administrators, industry partners and funders with an interest in data management and cloud computing are invited to find out about these and related data management projects in Oxford.

In addition to presentations and demos by the two projects there will be two breakout sessions which will focus on specific issues relevant to academic users and a more technical audience, respectively.

The workshop will be held on 2 March 2012, 10.00am - 5.00pm, at Said Business School in Oxford. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
