Course Outline

We are all very aware that we are responsible for the security of data we keep and how important that is. It can feel daunting & overwhelming. We wish to take the guess work out of it. Delegates will leave this course with a checklist that you and your colleagues can follow to reduce the risks associated with storing data on computers in your organisation.

 Target Audience

This course is aimed at all staff levels. All you need is a basic level of IT literacy and you will leave with virtually everything you need to know in order to identify risks and how to operate more securely when using
technology. The course will be run by Graeme Batsman .
Graeme Batsman CEH, CHFI and Security+ is a leading authority on data and communications security. Graeme had previously worked for some of the world’s most respected corporations including Marks and Spencer and Deutsche Bank. Graeme is the lead ‘IT Security Specialist and Trainer’ at Data Defender Ltd and Information Technology Consortium. Graeme is also an iT4Communities volunteer and is kindly delivering this course for free.

 Course Format
The course will be delivered using a mixture of live demonstrations, audio and video examples and discussion and will cover the following topics.

  • Social engineering
  • Phishing
  • Encryption
  • Website browsing
  • Mobile phone security
  • Email security
  • Keyloggers & Bugs

Total course time - 3 hours 30 minutes including a 15 minute break taken half way through. Tea and coffee will be provided.
