To kick off our new season of events we are proud to welcome Haydn Insley of the Manufacturing Institute in Manchester.

Haydn runs the fabulous FabLab in Manchester which is a great resource for inventors, and a focus for exciting new businesses in the North West. The Manchester FabLab is the first of many FabLabs throughoout the UK and it is part of a chain of similar workshops started by the visionary Neil Gerschenfeld of MIT that stretches from Iceland to Ghana and everywhere in between.

Haydn will present a background to the FabLab movement which began with Gershenfeld's course on "How to Make Almost Anything" at MIT. He will talk about the Manchester site, its equipment, what it has achieved to date and what it can do for you.

FabLab is an application of an exciting range of additive manufacturing technologies whcih Professor Gerschenfeld outlined in his talk on TED. This technology offers of bringing manufacturing back home to places like Liverpool after decades of decline. It really is that exciting and that important.

Anybody who is interested in technology should come - not just inventors, designers and artists but everyone who supports them like patent and trade mark agents, entrepreneurs, VCs, angels and other investors.
