Join as we undertake a semi exclusive location With Langsmead House only offering investigations twice a year we are honoured been able to run an event at this wonderful building.

House History

The house was commissioned in 1924 by the owner of the Singer sewing machine factory in 3.5 acres of gardens in the Oxfordshire countryside. It has been refurbished since it was originally built but has kept its 1920’s and 30’s feel with most of the furniture and decor used from that era. The building has had a colourful history and has seen a few famous faces in its time.

Band leader Jack Hilton resided in the house during World War II and practised with his orchestra in the barn. He organised parties during the 1930’s and 40’s for London theatre celebrities – the scandalous stories are still remembered by the local villagers. Comedian Arthur Askey lived in the cottage on the property. Mike Hailwood, world motorbike champion, was born in the house. T.E Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) stayed in the house up until a few days before his mysterious death. The house was also frequented by Winston Churchill and other prominent figures during World War II. It was eventually owned by the MOD for a short period.

Reported Activity

·         Footsteps and the clearing of throats have been heard
·         A young boy in old fashioned clothing has been seen on the first floor corridor – it is believed that two boys who lived in the property died under tragic circumstances
·         Guests have woke to find an army officer standing next to their bed

What to Expect on the Investigation

You will be split into groups for closer vigils. 

During the night you will be guided by our Experienced Investigators who have a wealth of experience in leading and conducting Paranormal Investigations.

We will have scientific equipment available to for you to use and aid you in your investigation.

The night will consist of 45 minutes – 1 hour vigils where you will make your way to an area of the building to investigate. There will then be a break for refreshments which are provided to you free of charge before heading out to investigate a different part of the building.
