An Evening with Guy Portelli - Tonbridge Arts Festival
Monday, 18 June 2012 from 19:00 to 21:30 (BST)
Tonbridge, United Kingdom
Spend a couple of hours with Guy Portelli, local sculptor, listen to what inspires him, why he took up sculpting and what his future plans are
Guy was first commissioned to sculpt 13, 9ft classical sculptures for The London Pavilion, in Piccadilly Circus, London. After gaining a reputation for Classical sculpture, he wanted to promote the more creative aspects of his work, and set about exhibiting his abstract sculptures in galleries, sculpture parks, Manchester Art House, Sausmarez Manor in Guernsey, and a major London show with Andrew Logan.
In 2005 Guy authored ‘Modern British Sculpture’ a comprehensive study of modern sculpture developments in Great Britain and followed that in 2008 he featured on BBC TVs Dragon's Den, and secured backing to develop the 'Pop Icon' collection, since then there have been several updates showing the progress of the works.
