This two-day course is an intensive introduction to writing and directing for the big screen and to the world-beating history of British cinema.

 

Sessions will include a leading British screenwriter and director sharing their skills and experiences; talks on key periods and figures of British film, such as silent cinema, Hitchcock and the 1960s; a practical session on new camera technologies; and a discussion on the current direction of British film.

 

Speakers include: the celebrated director Don Boyd; Tony Grisoni, writer of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and In this World; silent film expert Bryony Dixon; editor of Sight & Sound magazine Nick James; and Birkbeck College professor Ian Christie.
