Hidden Mayfair July 24
Tuesday, July 24, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (BST)
London, United Kingdom
Ritz, glitz, glamour, the word Mayfair evokes a James Bond spirit – high-living, high-rolling, fast cars, faster women, quality cocktails, luxury hotels, discretion, secrecy and espionage. Mayfair is also known for its numerous American links forged both in leisure and in War.
But there is also much of Mayfair that is little known and often missed by visitors and Londoners alike. So in addition to seeing sites synonymous with the area, you will also see a minimum of three elephants, London’s oldest street art, a sheep-free zone, some clubs fit for a future King and Queen, many places where even Roman Abramovich could easily run out of money, many scientific firsts, some great new public art, the finest terraced house in Britain and the country’s first one way street.
This tour lasts approximately 2 hours.
The tour starts and ends near Green Park Station, full details given upon booking.
The tour is fully accessible there are dropped kerbs throughout but there are two inclines, please contact me if you want to talk in more detail about accessibility.
I absorb all Eventbright fees so a ticket the overall price is the same however you choose to book.
If you would rather pay me cash on the day then that is absolutely fine.
You will decide whether or not you qualify for any of the discounts, not me. From experience though you can be very confident indeed that almost all your fellow walkers will be nice and interesting!

Discovering London with Peter Berthoud
I am an award winning, fully qualified and fully insured City of Westminster Guide and a member of the City of Westminster Guide Lecturers Association.
My tours are informative, fun, flexible and inclusive. I offer some public walks (such as this one) but the majority of my time is spent writing and delivering personalised tours, for families, companies and educational organisations.
My walks are all available for booking by private groups or individuals. I can tailor any tour to your requirements, make them shorter, longer, include pub stops or finish near a restaurant in the area for example.
I offer many other tours throughout the City, from the Royal Parks to Paddington and Little Venice, Pimlico, Regency London, Political Westminster, Westminster Highlights, Art Tours and Historic Pub Tours. These can all be adapted to suit first time visitors or keen London enthusiasts.
The shortest bookings I generally accept are for one hour, the longest for one week.
I can help you to plan tours in minute detail weeks beforehand or I love nothing more than working with a brand new group, on the day itself, to develop a truly unique and spontaneous tour!
