Continuous Professional Development for Sports Therapists, Sports Rehabilitators, Physiotherapists, Osteopaths and Chiropractors.

The Sports Taping course has been developed by therapists working in a variety of sports. It offers diverse options for therapists working within sport or within a practice.

Who is the course suitable for?

 

The UCB taping qualification is an introductory taping course aimed at newly graduated therapists and therapists with little experience of using taping for sporting conditions.

This qualification is aimed at all sports and offers an introduction to the principles and specific taping methods for various conditions and sports. The course is run over 2 days. The first day is concerned with lower limb and the second day covers the upper limbs with revision and key principles.

What's covered on the course?

Specific taping includes

  • plantar facia
  • arch support
  • MCL
  • ACL
  • LCL
  • Patella taping
  • Shoulder
  • stability
  • AC
  • Elbow hyper extension
  • thumb spica

On completion of the course you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of contra indications and indications for various taping methods.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of taping/physiological responses.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of current evidence of taping.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the use of zinc oxide tape, EAB, EAB light and re-enforced tan tape for peripheral joints.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the use of heel pads and friction reducing methods.

Assessment method:

Competency based.

Based on the successful application of various taping methods observed by staff.
