Social Business Fundamentals #2 - Adoption

Dachis Group London is hosting the second in its series of monthly events, called Social Business Fundamentals, intended to arm practitioners with the latest insights into the challenges that organisations face on their journey to becoming Social Businesses. One much talked about challenge is that of social business adoption, a consistent focus for many companies trying to make this type of technology work. It's also the subject of our next event on 5th July where we will be joined by Dave Staughton from Schlumberger's Knowledge Management team.

Adoption - or the integration of a technology into a person's or a group's working practices - has been a common theme in Social Business Design over the last few years and much has been written and said about it. The usual rejoinder to adoption-talk from some consultants is that adoption isn't what matters, what matters is business value. And while this is certainly true and probably makes the consultants feel pretty smart, adoption is obviously a necessary prerequisite to improving business performance as Lee said in his post on the topic a couple of years ago.

During the sessions, we will cover what adoption is, why it's of value and, drawing on some recent research we've been doing with the European Commission, give some ideas for how to achieve it. We will be joined by Dave Staughton, KM Manager at Schlumberger, a six-time winner in the Global Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises study, to talk about some of their experiences of creating an enterprise-wide collaborative knowledge-sharing environment."
