Event Details
As you walk along a former beach you will discover, London’s, possibly the world’s, first wine bar, the scene of an elephant’s execution and the oldest family-run shop of its type on earth. You will also see a bizarre sculpture that most people have never noticed, a back-to-front church and the city’s largest clock face, no, not that one!
You will learn about the death of the bowler hat, the birth of blue plaques, see a Victorian “Apps Store” and a steeple that should never have been and we’ll finish our tour with a drink in the close company of Dracula, close to one of the greatest, yet least known, collections of art anywhere.
This tour lasts roughly 2 hours.
The tour starts and ends near Covent Garden Tube, full details given upon booking.
The regular version of this tour is not suitable for wheelchairs, there are some stairs, steep inclines, kerbs and narrow pavements, please contact me if you want to talk in more detail about a specially adapted version.
Pricing
I absorb all Eventbright fees so the overall price is the same for you, however you choose to book.
If you would rather pay me cash on the day then that is absolutely fine.
You will decide whether or not you qualify for any of the discounts, not me. From experience though you can be very confident indeed that almost all your fellow walkers will be nice and interesting!

Organiser
Discovering London with Peter Berthoud
I am an award winning, fully qualified and fully insured City of Westminster Guide and a member of the City of Westminster Guide Lecturers Association.
My tours are informative, fun, flexible and inclusive. I offer some public walks (such as this one) but the majority of my time is spent writing and delivering personalised tours, for families, companies and educational organisations.
My walks are all available for booking by private groups or individuals. I can tailor any tour to your requirements, make them shorter, longer, include pub stops or finish near a restaurant in the area for example.
I offer many other tours throughout the City, from the Royal Parks to Paddington and Little Venice, Pimlico, Regency London, Political Westminster, Westminster Highlights, Art Tours and Historic Pub Tours. These can all be adapted to suit first time visitors or keen London enthusiasts.
The shortest bookings I generally accept are for one hour, the longest for one week.
I can help you to plan tours in minute detail weeks beforehand or I love nothing more than working with a brand new group, on the day itself, to develop a truly unique and spontaneous tour!
For a free initial discussion about how I might be able to help you plan a perfect tour in London please email me at walks@peterberthoud.co.uk .
