The North: (And Almost Everything In It)

The North, a lecture by Paul Morley followed by Q& A with Dave Haslam

The Manchester Gallery

In this lecture writer/journalist Paul Morley presents some thoughts on "the North", an early and exclusive preview of some of the stories and ideas in his next book, 'The North (And Almost Everything In It)' to be published in June 2013.

The book is a mix of memoir, social history and cultural observation in which Paul explores his own, and our sense, of what it is to be Northern).  We'll hear from Paul why and how he wrote this book, and how his "memory and experience of the North is as much an hallucination as it is reality." From Reddish and Stockport and Manchester and beyond via the Mersey and the 92 bus...

Followed by questions and answers led by Dave Haslam

This event is free, but pre-registration is essential as places are strictly limited.  A limited number of places will also be available at 6pm on the day, on a first come first served basis.

Refreshments are available for purchase in the cafe.

This event is part of the public programme for Dreams Without Frontiers an exhibition of work by international contemporary artists Cyprien Gaillard and Kelley Walker, curated with author and DJ Dave Haslam. This is the first in a programme of changing exhibitions in the Manchester Gallery that explore perspectives on the city.
