Event Details

Public affairs is a core part of public relations, but is an area which involves specialist skills and is usually pursued by specialist practitioners.  So what do you do if a PR client is suddenly threatened by a change in public policy or your job remit changes to include public affairs?  This workshop cannot turn you into a specialist practitioner in just a single day, but it will give you the skills, knowledge and vocabulary to deal with specialists.

 Course content:

  • What is public affairs?  How it relates to PR.
  • Public policy: how it affects your business and your clients’ business.
  • How decisions are made:

Executive

Legislature

Judiciary

  • Where decisions are made:

Brussels

Westminster

Whitehall

Town hall

Global structures

Devolved administration

Political parties

  • How to influence and persuade decision makers
  • Policy formation: the major players

Learning outcomes

While there is a great deal of course content to cover, much of this will be introductory only, with tips on how to find out more.  The course will be delivered in an interactive way, with a strong focus on developing skills rather than downloading facts.

Multiple bookings

If you would like to make a booking for more than one training course or event, please phone us on 020 7631 6938.
