This course is designed for those who are likely to be involved in managing communications at the time of a major incident. Through discussion of the nature of crises, examination of case studies and practical exercises, the session highlights the importance of communication and some practical techniques for successful operational management of a major incident.

Learning Outcomes

Delegates will become familiar with the particular communication challenges that crisis situations present, and the techniques that will help them communicate effectively. They will become aware of the strengths of their communication response to incidents, and will have created an action plan to cover any areas of weakness. With the skills and knowledge developed through the session they will be able to take a more positive approach to dealing with major incidents.
