In Conversation: Self-Portrait as a Young Man

London, United Kingdom
7 March 2013, 19:00

For nearly half a century, Roy Strong has been at the forefront of the arts world in Britain. Yet remarkably little is known about his life prior to the Swinging Sixties, when he burst onto the scene as the revolutionary young director of the National Portrait Gallery, at the age of just thirty-one. In conversation with the NPG’s current Director, Sir Roy discusses his formative years and tells the story of his journey as ‘a young man from nowhere who went somewhere.’
