Walled City Music Concert Series is delighted to present the Webster Trio on their first visit to Northern Ireland. Based in Houston, Texas and celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, the trio have toured widely with some of the most popular classical music in the repertoire, which they bring to Derry for this one-off concert. Leading soloists in their own right, having held principal positions at orchestras such as the Boston Symphony and San Francisco Symphony and played with many of the world’s leading musicians, the group are also skilled educationalists, and in addition to their recital will be giving workshops and master-classes for local students.
THE WEBSTER TRIO (www.webstertrio.com) was founded in 1988 by Michael Webster and Leone Buyse to expand and promote the repertoire for flute, clarinet, and piano. Since 2000 Robert Moeling has been pianist for the trio, which has performed in The Netherlands, Portugal, and Panama as well as across the United States. Crystal Records has released the trio’s World Wide Webster; discs with other pianists include Tour de France (Crystal), Sonata Cho-Cho San (Nami/Live Notes), and From Vienna to Budapest (Camerata Tokyo). All four CDs feature Michael Webster’s transcriptions of piano four-hands music for flute, clarinet, and piano, many of which have been published by International Music and Schott.
