Memoryscape "Dockers" Audio Walk

Join the Thames Discovery Programme for a walk with a difference!

This sound walk will be guided by your iPod, Mp3 player, or CD player, featuring the voices of people whose lives have been entwined with the river Thames. (If you don't have a cd player/mp3 enabled phone/iPod, we can loan a small number of CD players)

This walk, written by Dr Toby Butler from the University of East London, will be a huge experiment for our group - can we manage to walk in silence!?

We will begin in Martime Greenwich, one of the most historic riverside areas of London, and the walk explores the hidden history of London's docks, narrated by people that used to  work in the docks and wharfs in London. The walk will recall an area that had a workforce of almost 100 000 people - a culture that has almost disappeared from living memory.  It was written a few years ago now, so will the landscape have changed a lot?  Find out more on this walk!

We will finish by North Greenwich tube station at about 1pm.
