I grew up in Bedfordshire in a house, surrounded by creativity.
"The hands are the instruments of a mans intelligence" Maria Montessori
I completed my BA Fine Art degree at Portsmouth University. While studying for my degree I gained an NVQ level 3 in visual merchandising. The use of balance and colour combined with fashion and textiles was a perfect job but it didn't fit with the family life I had imagined.

Before the crochet, Benny Rens was just me and my sewing machine making my friends little makes, bags etc, mostly for pocket money. When I was pregnant with my second baby I learnt to crochet, and thus Benny Rens evolved into what it is today.
The beauty of crochet is balance. The use of the two sides of the brain, the maths and the art.

My work is constantly evolving, I find new ways to work to create the outcomes I strive to achieve.

I have been teaching for over 5 years, I teach an all manor of textile/art sessions and Im currently working towards my Diploma in Education and Training. I think its so important to learn these skills to keep traditional crafts alive, modern and up to date.
