Creativity Sustains Community

 

Brixton Revival: Realised Revealed & Revisited is a creative collaboration between Alvin Kofi of Kofi Arts and Terry Humphrey of Trunk Store celebrating the Black presence in Brixton.

 

Revival is an exciting multi media advertising campaign presented through an installation Pop-Up Tourist Centre erected in the popular venue Diverse. The campaign will establish live participation sites high lighting Brixton’s eclectic Black businesses. The Centre will act as a one-stop info centre where, through an assemblage of creative soundscape broadcasts, memorabilia and merchandise, passers-by can take away an essential authentic experience of Black Brixton.

 

From the 17 to 25 the centre will offer you a chance to revisit and reveal, ‘Brixton Revival’ of the African-Caribbean presence in Brixton from the 1950s to the current day.  The campaign will map the much-loved businesses in the area, old and new, surviving and thriving paying homage through visions of both past and present that helps sustain the social and cultural diversity of Brixton.
