CCEA-Curriculum
Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment
In Northern Ireland, the curriculum is managed and maintained by CCEA.
The education system in Northern Ireland begins statutory education when a child is aged 4. All children must begin school in the September following their 4th birthday.
There are 12 years of compulsory education which are divided into 5 key stages.
CCEA places learners and those who have a concern for their educational and personal development at the forefront of its thinking.
To enable the full potential of all learners to be achieved and recognised.
CCEA’s mission is to enable the full potential of all learners to be achieved and recognised. This mission, which places learners at the centre of CCEA’s thinking, serves as the starting point for CCEA’s vision of education and the part education can and should play in the social, economic and political well being of Northern Ireland.
