Dr Yehudi Gordon

I spent five years as a researcher at St Barts Hospital. This led to many scientific publications and two of the research projects are still in daily use (screening for Down’s syndrome and testing D-Dimer to detect deep vein thrombosis). I have practiced as a consultant gynaecologist since 1978.

In my clinical practice I believe that conventional high-tech medicine and gynaecology serves women best when it is combined with gentle complementary care; this is called holistic, integrated healthcare.

Currently I use conventional high-tech diagnosis and treatment combined with bio-identical hormone replacement (BHRT), nutritional advice, exercise and emotional support to provide a wide spectrum of choices for prevention and cure. This approach has been particularly successful for fertility and preconception as well as a range of gynaecological disorders such as menstrual dysfunction, pelvic pain and the menopause.

Having had a discussion and examined you I will give you my point of view, explaining the factors that might be making you feel the way you do and listen to your thoughts and feelings about yourself. Together we will outline and explore possible ways forward.  The discussion might concentrate on what further tests might be needed, what can be prevented, what can be treated and the various options available.

Looking back to 1980; I was a founder member of the Active Birth movement, helping to introduce water birth to the UK. I founded The Birth Unit in London, one of the first hospitals to offer the choice of active and water birth as well as welcoming fathers.

I have written numerous books on pregnancy and birth two of which are still in print.

I am currently involved in a leading edge parenting programme called Babies Know. Fundamental to this programme is cutting edge psychology and developmental neuroscience providing sound scientific facts to support couples and babies in creating secure and loving relationships within a family.
