Enfys is the name for the LGBT+ network for all staff and postgraduates at Cardiff University.
ENFYS exists to:
- Raise awareness of LGBT+ issues and thereby promoting equality and diversity within Cardiff University and to external organisations
- Represent the views of LGBT+ staff
- Provide a gateway of support and assistance to LGBT+ staff in the workplace and a forum for discussion of issues affecting LGBT+ staff
Launched in November 2006, members voted for the name ENFYS (Welsh for rainbow, pronounced en-viss) to reflect the “open” status of its membership. LGBT+ is a term we use to make the staff network as inclusive as we can of the many different sexualities and gender identities.
We meet often throughout the academic year for a mixture of activities and work closely with partner organisations on many of these events such as Cardiff Council, the Welsh Government, National Assembly for Wales, South Wales Fire and Rescue and Local Health Boards. We also have a direct line to the senior team of the University through the Pro Vice Chancellor for Staff and Diversity and are able to influence policy and discussion where appropriate.
Cardiff University is proud to be one of Stonewall’s Top 100 Employers in the UK, a member of the Stonewall Cymru Diversity Champions scheme and a Stonewall Networks Star Performer.
