Friends of Conservation

Friends of Conservation (FOC) is a conservation charity, with nearly 35 years experience in the field. Our mission is to protect endangered wildlife and preserve natural habitats, which under threat as the human population increases.

We operate in the ‘Greater Mara’ Ecosystem, Kenya, an area of some 4,000 square kilometres outside the renowned Masai Mara National Reserve. Communities here face many challenges, animals are often seen as competition for resources and for conservation to be successful, local people must benefit. We offer practical support, such as opportunities to generate much-needed income and encourage a more sustainable lifestyle.

 Our work includes:

  • Human / wildlife conflict management
  • Wildlife and habitat monitoring/protection
  • Anti-poaching campaigns
  • Education, enterprise & health programmes
  • Fuel efficiency and reforestation
  • Carbon-reduction projects
  • Promoting sustainable tourism

In addition to our field activity in Kenya, FOC partners with like-minded organisations in other countries in Africa as well as in Asia and South and Central America where wildlife and their environment are at risk.
