Based in the south west corner of Surrey, three miles from the county town of Guildford,
Godalming Band has been in existence in its current form since 1937 and boasts both an active Senior and Youth band. The membership is a cross section of people, of all ages, living in the local community.
Thanks to the generosity of the people of Godalming and the surrounding area, the band has remained a self-supporting organisation, raising its own funds for the instruments, music and uniforms through regular public performances in and around the Godalming area in a variety of venues such as concert halls, bandstands, churches and a selection of local shows and fetes. The band also takes pride in fundraising for local good causes and charities.
Throughout its history the band have given many outstanding concerts, competed in both the National Brass Championships and the SCABA regional contests, premiered new compositions and embarked on international tours, performing concerts with bands from Godalming’s twin towns Mayen, Germany and Joigny, France. Godalming Band celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2017.
