Historic England - HELM Training

Historic Environment Local Management (HELM) is a free training programme from Historic England that provides training on managing the historic environment for local authorities, regional agencies and national organisations, free of charge. Here you can find out more about our available courses.

We work with key partners to deliver courses which provide advice and practical tools to further understanding of heritage issues and enable people to make decisions which can enhance and protect our heritage for future generations.

These training events are generally targeted at specific audience groups. Please read the course details to see whether an event is appropriate for you. If your job role is not in the target audience for the course please contact us to add your name to the reserve list, as last minute places may become available.

Terms and Conditions
Booking is essential for all courses as places are limited. Please note that we are initially only able to allocate 2 places per organisation.
Please note, these training events are provided free of charge by Historic England, and places are at a premium. You can send a replacement or notify us by e mail if you book and then can’t attend. Non-attendance will incur a fee of £150 unless you contact us at least 5 days in advance.

We use the Eventbrite online booking service to make it easier for you book onto our events. If you don’t want to book online using this service, please contact one of our Training Delivery Officers to request a booking form.
