Joan Porter MacIver has been the Executive Director of the Honor Frost Foundation since February 2012. She was previously the London Manager and Administrator of the British Institute for the Study of Iraq (Gertrude Bell Memorial), formerly the British School of Archaeology in Iraq, for 13 years and is now a BISI Council member/Trustee. Her earlier career was as a banker with Chemical Bank in New York and Bahrain.
She is a graduate of Harvard/Radcliffe Colleges and an active alumni and was Past President of the Harvard Club of the United Kingdom. She is the daughter of a career American diplomat Ambassador Dwight J. Porter (Lebanon 1965-70) and has lived most of her life abroad, including six years in Saudi Arabia, where she started the Harvard Alumni (Saudi Arabia) group. She has three grown up children and is married to David MacIver, a former banker, and they manage a small holding in East Anglian. Her twin sister is the Director of the American Center of Oriental Research (ACOR) in Amman, Jordan.
