Jones Day Graduate Recruitment

Jones Day is a truly global law firm. Our 2,500 lawyers across 44 major business and finance centres worldwide address the most demanding and complex global matters. As leaders in cross-border M&A and global disputes, we look for exceptional individuals who want to work on global deals, be challenged on an international level, and can become partners of the future, not just train with us. In London, our graduate trainees work on truly global transactions, thrive on early responsibility, and develop as lawyers fast. We recruit to retain. Half our London partners trained with the Firm.

You don’t need a background in law. Over half our trainees are non-law graduates and many have postgraduate degrees in disciplines other than law. In our unique training system, trainees assume their own workload and work across different practice areas simultaneously. Because they do not move department every six months, they don’t miss the end of deals or trials they have worked on.

In London, we sponsor our graduates through law school and offer them a unique, non-rotational, two-year training contract designed to provide flexibility and responsibility from the start. Our work placement schemes are the route to training at Jones Day. Operating like mini training contracts, you gain a real insight into life as a trainee at our global law firm. They are open to all final year students, graduates and postgraduates of any discipline, as well as penultimate year students of a qualifying law degree.

Apply online for a placement. No supplemental questions, psychometric tests, assessment days. Candidates are selected for interview with 2 partners. If successful, you attend our placement scheme and interview for a training contract.

Applications open 1 September 2016. We recruit on a rolling basis, so cannot guarantee availability. Closing dates: 28 October 2016 (Winter); 16 December 2016 (Spring); 13 January 2017 (Summer).

All are welcome to join our “Question Time” evening to ask our panel of trainees, associates and partners directly about their experiences of working in a global law firm and how our distinctive, non-rotational training system works in practice. Chat with them informally over drinks and nibbles afterwards.
