Katie Smith

Katie Smith is an artist working in stitch, low-tech print, collage and photography. She runs monthly workshops from her retro inspired studio at the picturesque Unique Cottage Studios in Spalding, Lincolnshire. She works with small groups (a maximum of 6 people) to ensure that there is plenty of individual attention, space to work and an intimate creative atmosphere. Participants can expect to create in a relaxed, informal environment with unlimited light refreshments served on fine china from a golden hostess trolley.

Katie’s workshops are suitable for all levels of experience and although the intention is to teach a particular skill she has a flexible approach.  She appreciates that some people feel more comfortable being guided through step by step instructions while others prefer to take a more experimental approach. Her workshops are as much about creating a space to be curious, playful and reflective as they are about creating a finished piece.

Each month’s workshop can be completed in one day or across 2 afternoons. Participants attending a Sunday workshop are asked to bring a packed lunch. There is ample parking at Unique and a café which is open Monday to Saturday and serves the most delicious homemade cakes and light lunches.
