Part of Kong’s senior management team includes the highly-esteemed Steve Walsh. The ex-Leicester City captain and football legend was voted in a local BBC poll as ‘the fans’ all time cult hero and a true ambassador for the club and city of Leicester’.
With a sporting background spanning 21 years, as captain Steve guided Leicester City FC to the Premiership and into Europe for the very first time in the club’s history with his two goals against Derby County in the play-offs final in 1994. Since hanging up his boots in 2001, Steve has been involved in organising numerous sporting events across the country and teamed up with Shane Whitfield Director of JSS Drinks Distribution Ltd, one of the biggest drinks suppliers in the city of Leicester, to develop an exceptionally well-connected, creative and results-oriented events company.
Kong plans, alongside its high-profile sponsors and associates, top-class sporting and non-sporting events across the county, including everything from celebrity appearances and golf days to wedding receptions and Christmas parties. Each event, no matter the size, is planned with meticulous detail with all components creatively executed always within budget. The pro-active approach of the management team alongside their can-do attitudes and warming personalities, ensure Kong always get the job done and with a smile.
At Kong we also believe giving back to the community is incredibly important, which is why we work very closely with the ‘Wishes 4 Kids’ charity foundation. Wishes 4 Kids officially launched in September 2002 with the objective giving some the county’s less-fortunate children a little happiness through the granting of a ‘wish’. The wishes are given to children who are terminally ill, have suffered life changing mental, physical and emotional traumas, who have been abused and to those who have been diagnosed as HIV positive under the age of eighteen. Each child is asked to make three wishes, it is then the charity’s challenge to grant one of the three. Since the launch of the charity over 2,500 children’s wishes have been granted. These have included trips to Disneyland Paris, laptop computers, meeting sport and pop celebrities and even taking several local children for an audience with the Pope.
