Manchester Football Writing Festival

The first Manchester Football Writing Festival, in association with Waterstones Manchester Deansgate and the National Football Museum takes place at venues across the city between 4 - 12 September.

The festival will host many of the nation’s best known football writers and journalists in events which will celebrate football in the written word.

Kicking off on the 4th September with The Guardian’s Football Weekly team performing a live edition of the UK's biggest football podcast at the Royal Northern College of Music, the festival will also feature talks on the football memoir, the novel and football analytics to name just a few.  Prominent football writers attending include Sid Lowe, Graham Hunter, Jonathan Wilson, Paddy Barclay, Michael Calvin, Ian Ridley, Iain Macintosh, Danny Rhodes, Matt Dickinson, Rob Smyth, Chris Anderson, Ben Lyttleton and Paul Simpson. The festival will climax with the first visit to the city of the influential football periodical The Blizzard, who will host a discussion with a panel of their writers.
