Northern Film & Media is a screen-based media and creative development agency committed to driving film, TV and digital arts projects. We understand the importance of screen-based media both in terms of the creativity it entails and the economic value it brings to the UK. By running a dynamic programme of events, projects, talent development initiatives and an award winning production service from our base at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, we aim to bring investment into the UK and North East region, whilst creating a screen culture economy where creativity can thrive.
Over the last ten years, Northern Film & Media has leveraged £90m of investment in the North East creative industries and backed more than 650 creative projects and companies. We work with BALTIC, BFI, Creative England, Film4, the BBC, Arts Council England and Channel 4 to deliver our slate of projects, events and talent development initiatives. We support a range of hit TV shows including ITV’s Vera and BBC1’s Inspector George Gently and The Paradise, whilst a recent partnership with Northstar Ventures delivered the £2.4 million Finance for Business – North East Creative Content Fund which produced commercial film and TV investments such as United, Song for Marion and The Liability.
