Soul City Arts is a Birmingham-based non profit community organisation that has delivered arts interventions throughout the UK and around the globe. Founder of the organisation, Mohammed Ali – an artist and producer – has delivered programs working with the likes of British Council in Malaysia, Australia, Canada as well as city authorities such as City of Melbourne as part of the Melbourne International Arts Festival, Edinburgh, Bristol and Liverpool City Council.
Soul City Arts has recently worked with arts institutions and supported on delivery of arts seminar tours across Europe and and Canada by the Arts Council England. Mohammed Ali was awarded an ITV South Bank Show Award in 2009, nominated by the Arts Council of England. Recent theatrical performances that Soul City Arts produced, have brought together diverse audiences of people of different faith and age into galleries, museums, theatres and public spaces, such as the Eid Festival at the Museum of World Cultures in Gothenburg Sweden and the Salam arts and music festival at the New Art Gallery Walsall.
Soul City Arts has recently launched a unique arts and performance space called The Hubb in Sparkbrook, an inner-city part of Birmingham and focuses on bringing arts to the lives of ordinary people developing a reputation within communities for its commitment to making art accessible to all.
