Stephanie Nash

Stephanie Nash is an American mindfulness coach and integrative counselor who has worked closely and extensively with Shinzen Young, acclaimed American master mindfulness teacher, contributing to the development of his innovative & effective mindfulness techniques which are now being studied by Harvard Medical School, Harvard School of Psychology, Yale and other prestigious educational and research institutions.  Stephanie participated in Part I of the Harvard brain study (spending 3 hours in an fMRI) and will be teaching the mindfulness techniques to participants  in the 2nd phase of the study.

While Stephanie is an expert on all of Shinzen's techniques, she has developed her own effective strategies with Mindful Pleasure, Mindful Body Language, Conscious Eating, and her Laugh For Inner Fitness meditations are quite popular.  Steph's "10 Minute Chill" (which she created from Shinzen's "Rest States") has become a mainstay at Shinzen's retreats and elsewhere - as it has proven to be a most effective way to find a resting place for body and mind quickly and easily.

Stephanie was recently a featured expert on the Deepak Chopra show, as well as the Buddhist Geeks Interview Series (first for a podcast "Tuning into the Truth of the Moment" https://www.buddhistgeeks.com/author/stephanie-nash/ - and then for a live webcast interview on "Practice and Life" which is on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLGtVvAsMjQ&list=PLF5BD30938C36F8E5)

Based in California, Stephanie's "Mindful Body Language" workshops (taught at UCLArts & Healing & elsewhere) delve into how our body positions and movement can affect how we think and feel- as well as how we communicate with and open to our environment.

Stephanie has been a professional actress for 35 years and an acting teacher for 25 (and is also an Associate Professor Adjunct at the Art Center College of Design where she trains graduate film directors to work with actors) and it is her work with helping actors create the suffering that others want freedom from that has given her a unique perspective to this process of identifying and developing effective strategies for eliminating suffering.

Stephanie's "Mindful Pleasure" workshops  involve tuning into pleasant experience which is always present but often not noticed - as well as with cultivating pleasant options in each moment.  This work also includes detecting and releasing the subtle grasping often present within the pleasant experience - leading to a more fulfilling experience.

Stephanie has done extensive work with "Mindful Eating" - or "Conscious Eating", as she now likes to call it (since we are all aware of what UNconscious eating is.)  For several years, Steph taught many 6-8 week workshops (and also co-led a weekly support group) that focused on our relationship with food and eating. Stephanie has repeatedly been interviewed on radio in Los Angeles about this topic and has also done presentations for several health organizations.

And last but not least, Stephanie developed her "Laugh for Inner Fitness" meditations as an effective way to create intensely positive energy instantly - and also as a way to quickly dislodge "stuck" unhelpful thoughts & feelings while creating an openness and enthusiasm for just being in the present moment.
