Westminster Arts Library

A public reference library in the heart of London’s West End with a key subject collection in Art & Design and Performing Arts  listed as one of outstanding national significance.

As an arts library, freely open to all 57 hours a week, we see ourselves as a first resort for practitioners, students, enthusiasts and academics alike. If enquirers need more in depth information than we can provide, we know which specialised resources and institutions to refer them to.

We offer a diverse range of arts events at the rate of three or four  per month, as well as business talks and workshops. In every case we display books from our broad arts collection that tie in with the event in order to promote our stock and services, and in fact our very existence!

Our wish is to generate a sense of excitement and inspiration and the aim of these events is to use a creatively dormant space such a traditional Library as a resource, study and temporary hub of debate and interaction, a ‘creative city’ which opens up to a new and ever changing audience.

PLEASE NOTE: we are also here as a springboard and a platform from where your talent may launch itself to new heights :)!  So feel free to suggest projects or talks on virtually any field of art & design or performing arts.

There are two reading rooms and a study/workshop space.  Free WiFi access and scores of useful Arts, Books and Literature websites.
