Pete Quaife’s Lighter Side of Dialysis Fund Raiser
Pete Quaife co-founder of The KinKs died 23rd June 2010 of kidney failure after 16 years attending dialysis treatment. Four hours every other day was a necessity and worsened by the new ruling that books, crosswords etc were outlawed in the dialysis clinics due to the infections these articles could carry.
In memory of Pete Quaife we are launching a Fund raiser 'Pete Quaifes' Lighter Side of Dialysis' that will supply the dialysis clinics with Kindles and portable DVD’s.
The patients attending must undergo their treatment several times weekly, four hours at a time. Boredom just adds to their suffering. Kindle books and DVD players to read a novel to see a film would be a great relief for them, and we hope the Fund raiser will be able to distribute to as many clinics as possible.
Kindles and DVD player can easily be sterilized by wiping over with disinfectants.
