Biography

Ja Rule is a famous American rapper, singer, and songwriter who’s been defining rap music since the early 1990s. Born and bred in Queens, NY as Jeffrey Bruce Atkins, Ja Rule joined the East Coast rap scene with the hip hop group Cash Money Click in 1993. The group was short-lived, though, and Ja Rule moved on to pursue a solo career in 1995. Shortly after, he found supporters in DMX and Jay-Z.

The rapper’s debut single Holla Holla dropped in 1999 and peaked at the No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100. Ja Rule’s first full-length Venni Vetti Vecci, which came out that same year, debuted at the No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and became platinum by the end of the millennium. In rising to fame, Ja Rule maintained his gruff street image despite becoming a stellar commercial success in only a few years.

Ja Rule remained a contradictory figure throughout his career. He is worshiped as a rap authority and a prolific artist, even though he is no stranger to soppy lyrics and melancholic R&B ballads. Down 4 U, Between Me & You, Mesmerise, Put It On Me, and Always On Time are only a few of his commercial hits, loved by hardcore rap and pop fans alike. The stage adores Ja Rule too, so check him out on tour. Get tickets for his performace today.
