Case Study
Days Like This and The Changing Dynamics of UK Party Culture
We are five friends who all went to university together. Three of us went on an internship scheme in New York and the other two frequently visited us. We all had an amazing time at the brunches and day parties in New York and we realised we preferred going out in the daytime as it meant we were still able to make plans for the next day.
Upon our return to London, we realised there weren’t many brunches or day parties aimed at young working professionals, and that play hip hop and R&B. This brought about the birth of Days Like This (DLT) - a Brunch Party aimed at people similar to us, who still want to party but do it during the day so we can still be productive the next morning.
We really wanted to change the dynamics of the party culture and prove that it doesn’t have to always happen at night.

Why did you choose to use Eventbrite?
Eventbrite was our natural choice to sell tickets because when we attended parties ourselves, we normally bought our tickets through Eventbrite. We also used to scour the Eventbrite website to find events that we would be interested in.
We found some gems on Eventbrite in New York, like an unlimited alcohol party with fewer than 100 attendees in deep Bushwick , Brooklyn - one of the most random but best parties we have ever been to! And Brunch2Bomb in LA, too.
“The Eventbrite app is a lifesaver. It helps to track everything regarding the event on your phone.”

What challenge has Eventbrite helped you solve, or which aspect do you find most useful?
The Eventbrite app is a lifesaver. It helps to track everything regarding the event on your phone. We all have full time jobs so sometimes it is hard to deal with the ongoing demands of DLT on the go.
It’s especially useful on the day of the event to scan customer tickets for entry. It helps us to know when people have tried to screenshot a ticket and distribute it to others. I don’t believe any other event app ticket scanning system is as sophisticated as Eventbrite’s.
Eventbrite has been especially helpful for us in terms of pre-orders for food, it allows you so much freedom to create custom made pages, and it generally really helps our organisation.
What are your future plans for DLT?
2018 was a big year for DLT. We started the year hosting 200-300 people per event and now the interest has peaked to over 1000! We will always ensure we are able to deal with the demand without diluting the quality of the event - especially for the people who were with us from the beginning.
So this year we are hoping to elevate the DLT brunch events by partnering with musicians. We are also having a DLT in Ibiza which should be an amazing experience!
How much has your event grown since inception?
We can’t believe how much we have grown as an event. Initially, it was a local event with the majority being our friends, and now it is growing into a major brand. Our first event in May 2016, started at 200 people, with 2100 clicks on our Eventbrite page.
At our last event, we had 650 tickets sold with an additional 100+ turning up on the door and we had over 14,000 clicks on our Eventbrite page in one day. Our Twitter following is at over 1400 and our Instagram following is 1700, we currently have a mailing list of 2000+.
How much time has Eventbrite saved you?
Eventbrite has saved us so much time in terms of promotion and organisation; once our event goes live we can easily send an email directly from Eventbrite to all our previous attendees and they can instantly purchase a ticket, which saves us promotion time.
We can track how many tickets have sold on the Eventbrite platform in real-time and when we download the attendee report, it’s really simple to see information such as the names of attendees and how many of them have ordered food. This helps us know how much food to order in advance and saves us endless hours of manual work.
What's one piece of advice you'd give to new event organisers starting a new event?
Don't compromise on your vision! We have had many instances of venues asking us to change the style of the event simply because they've never experienced it before. They’d prefer to stick to what they know. However, like everything else in the world, events have to be innovative, so we stuck to the vision and pushed until a venue finally agreed to do it our way.
