Slugtown is an artist run not-for-profit gallery based in Shieldfield, Newcastle upon Tyne. We support early-career artists, providing a programme of exhibitions, workshops and events.Alongside the exhibition programme, Slugtown runs SlugClub – a free monthly art club for young people in Shieldfield. Professional artists are invited to design tasks to complete in workshops and after school clubs. Artwork made in these sessions are then brought together and exhibited in our regular SlugClub Pop-Up Exhibitions at the gallery.Prior to this, from 2017-18 the gallery operated from a residential property in Heaton, Newcastle upon Tyne. In this time we programmed 11 exhibitions, working with artists from across the country.Slugtown is run by co-directors Matt Antoniak and Max Lee.
