Welcome to our Eventbrite page. My name is Maria Mackenzie and I am the founder of Forest Bathing Edinburgh, a specialist provider of guided forest experiences in Edinburgh, which support wellbeing. Our sessions provide calm, sensory-based time in nature. No swimming is involved, instead we use all five senses as we move through the forest, to connect with nature and to provide relief from the stress of every day life.I am a certified Forest Bathing Guide based in Edinburgh. My journey into forest bathing began during the Covid lockdowns, which was a really challenging period with bereavements and ill health. Seeking space, quiet, and relief from stress, I was regularly went into nearby woodland. My slow, mindful walks among trees brought comfort and noticeable health benefits long before I came to understand the growing body of scientific research supporting forest bathing (which originated in Japan, and called shinrin-yoku). Inspired to learn more, and to offer others the same sense of grounding and calm, I completed professional training as a forest bathing guide.
