The Shire of Nillumbik is located less than 25 kilometres north-east of Melbourne, and has the Yarra River as its southern boundary. It extends to Kinglake National Park in the north, Plenty River in the west and Christmas Hills in the east. The Shire has an population of around 65,000 people who live in close-knit communities ranging from typical urban settings to remote and tranquil bush properties.--Nillumbik Shire Council respectfully acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people as the Traditional Owners of the Country on which Nillumbik is located, and we value the significance of the Wurundjeri people's history as essential to the unique character of the shire.
